With 4,200 incidents reported to Southend Police last year, the cost of ‘dealing with’ domestic abuse cost statutory services just under £10.5 million in 2016-17.

Yet we know that only 35% of domestic abuse incidents are reported to the Police. The actual cost of domestic abuse to our council, police and health services could be much, much higher.

Our work continues to be as vital as ever. Founded in 1976, we have not stopped supporting survivors of domestic abuse. We are also promoting domestic abuse awareness and healthy relationship workshops in schools and colleges in Southend.

We don’t want domestic abuse to cost this much in the future.
